Voice Of Cards: The Forsaken Maiden Nintendo Switch Review | Another Yoko Taro Masterpiece?

YouTube video

Voice Of Cards: The Isle Dragon released only 3 months ago and already, we have a sequel? How does Voice of Cards: The Forsaken Maiden compare, does it improve on the formula and has Yoko Taro done it again?

Voice of Cards: The Forsaken Maiden is set on a remote chain of islands that have been protected by the maidens for generations, but which now face destruction. The hero of the story vows to save the islanders and sets sail for the high seas, together with Laty, a girl who failed to become a maiden.

The second game in the unique Voice of Cards series, where all elements are presented entirely through the medium of cards, in the tradition of tabletop RPGs and gamebooks.

A touching tale set in a world of melancholic beauty, brought to you by YOKO TARO (Creative Director), Keiichi Okabe (Music Director) and Kimihiko Fujisaka (Character Designer).

  1. Somehow just 3 months after the first Voice of Cards we get a follow up, but the question is it worth your time? No prior experience is needed with the series to play this one, it's a standalone tale! Thanks for watching, liking and subscribing all!

  2. I really enjoyed what I've played of the first one, but haven't finished it yet. So this goes on my wishlist to buy on sale. Really glad to hear the story is better. There are definitely some aspects of the first game I don't care for.

  3. Soon as you said you preferred this story than the first one instantly made me want it. Didnt play the first but was waiting for more in the series to release. Thanks for the review

  4. What would you say that it would take to go through a typical playthrough? I remember the first one beings fairly short but still kind of meaty for the size

  5. The concept of using cards and the way they have gone about doing it is really great out of several aspects.
The first game lay down the basics and had a very traditional J-RPG style. In this one it seems they try out some new stuff. Can't wait to see the third one! Really want them to try out some new combat things that wouldn't maybe work in traditional j-rpg but might work here since it is card based!

  6. I’ve been on the fence about these two in the series, thanks for the reviews I’ll have to pick one up and take the plunge.

  7. Idk I got the first one on sale.. I dig what they are trying to do but it's too simple too many cut coners.. you see many of the same illustration for characters making the world feel flat. Also would have been nice to have ur team voiced instead of just having the narrator voice everyone..

  8. Honestly I was worried that it was rushed out when I know it's only been a few months since the first one but I guess that was nothing to worry about.

  9. Nice review but i probably wont get it this time. First one was fine but if they didnt improve the game play i probably would get bored with more of the same

  10. Definitely looks intriguing and I would like to try it. Though I did get tired of random encounters in Octopath and didn’t finish it. As nice as this looks, it isn’t close enough to the top of my want-to-play rpg list. Will wishlist it still and see if it gets its moment to buy later.

  11. Woah woah woah. Nier? So Yoko Taro had a hand in this? He is one of the directors eh? Oh man. Then the story should be good but wild. That guy is a bit fucked in the head. He likes to play with gamers emotions with his story. I love all his games though. 😋

  12. Still waiting on the huge sale to hit U.S
I'm looking to buy Monster Hunter Stories 2 and I am very excited.
Hopefully they give us the discount very very soon 🤞🤞

  13. The art really is just so beautiful! I have yet to get the first one (waiting for news on whether there's gonna be a physical release), but these games are definitely high up on my list! Just a pity with the random encounters, I think it can work (I personally didn't mind it in Octopath Traveler), but if the difficulty is unbalanced battles can easily become such a hassle 😅

  14. I played the demo for the first entry. It was great, but hesitant to drop full $ since it is a short experience
